BackgroundAlthough entering college is often thought of as a positive life events, however, because all prospective students are going to face the change of environment, relationship, inevitably bring individual pressure and challenges. Freshmen into the college, the first thing to do is to adapt to the new environment, new relationship, but because of individual differences, then due to maladjustment of emotional distress and mental problem will generally arise.Mental health of freshmen not only directly affect their current physical and mental development, and even the stage for the entire university career development, life trajectories are likely to have an impact, so freshmen mental health issues of concern. Due to the special nature of their future medical students career during the academic school has a heavier burden, therefore, medical students easier to produce stress and psychological problems.College students’ anxiety and to adapt all belong to the category of mental health.In recent years, studies have shown that in general the mental health of college students should arouse enough attention. Students’psychological factors lead to anxiety generated include:academic distress, interpersonal disorders, love setbacks, employment and careers, etc. But anxiety is often because of not used to.In current studies on mental health of college students,meanwhile studies on students’ anxiety levels or factors are more,study on students’ adaptability are more too.But the two issues together still relatively few study.Numerous studies information indicates that although there are differences between anxiety and adapt, but they are a factor associated with each other, only one factor studies, the degree of students’ mental health assessment is not accurate enough.Therefore, the combination of the two studies, and find the relationship between the two, propose effective ways to deal with it is important.ObjectivesThe study through the way of investigating of the anxiety levels and the mental adaptation ability of medical freshmen, analyzes the relations between medical anxiety and mental adaptation ability.Then the study will provide a reference for students’ideological and political education of college workers and mental health workers to help students with difficult well adapt to college study and life, lay a necessary foundation for adults, to become a useful person.MethodologyBy the survey tool containing "college students psychological adaptability measurement questionnaire","SAS" and questionnaire designed by investigators of the basic information,using cluster random sampling method,investigate the students of grade2013from different professions who fresh entering a medical college3months.Application of statistical analysis software SPSS17.0for data entry, and descriptive statistical analysis, X2test, correlation analysis. P<0.05was considered statistically significant.Main ResultsOverall, medical freshmen adapt ability is strong, the result set in the general two rang.No poor adaptability students, at the same time also does not have the strongest students. Adaptability of medical students there was no significant difference in the professional, where from and the non-child.There were significant differences in gender only. Medical freshmen of more severe anxiety.Respondents moderate or above anxiety of216people (14.7%), mild anxiety,855people (58.3%). Medical freshmen’s overall level of anxiety in professional and whether the one-child exist significant difference Anxiety severity in professional, gender, students, whether the one-child there were significant differences. The adaptability and SAS scores do Pearson analysis showed that both the correlation coefficient r=-0.090, P=0.254, still can not believe that there is a negative correlation between the two.Conlusion and RecommendationsAdaptability of medical students is overall acceptable,but condition of anxiety is more serious,mental health education and adaptive education to freshmen should be strengthened.School should pay attention to and strengthen college students psychological health education,especially unclinical students and rural not one-child students.
