The Relationship Between Medical Students' Depressive Disorder?Anxiety Disorder And Constitution Of Traditional Chinese Medicine In Shandong Province

Objective: We may conduct investigations on the relationship between traditional Chinese medicine constitution types and incidence of depression and anxiety disorders of medical students,and try to find out the correlation between them through investigations on traditional Chinese medicine constitution types and incidence of depression and anxiety disorders of medical students,so as to provide the basis for relevant researches in the future and guide,prevent and improve mental health problems of medical students.Methods: The method of stratified cluster sampling has been employed in this research,and respectively 500 undergraduates from Medical College of Qingdao University,Shandong Traditional Chinese Medicine University and Binzhou Medical University are selected as objects of research.Using of The classification of traditional Chinese medicine and the judging questionnaire,Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale(CES-D),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)to investigate the relationship between traditional Chinese medicine constitution types and incidence of depression and anxiety disorders of medical students.Then,a statistical analysis has been carried out on the data obtained from a questionnaire survey with Software SPSS16.0Results :1.Constitution investigation: The moderate constitution holds 16.91% while the biased constitution holds 83.09%,of which people have Yang deficiency constitution accounts for the largest proportion(24.71%),and the second largest proportion comes from people have damp-heat constitution(13.47%),people have stagnant blood constitution holds the smallest proportion(3.79%).Among women,the numbers of people having Yang deficiency constitution hold the largest proportion(30.57%),and the second is the number of people having Yin deficiency constitution(14.37%)and moderate constitution(12.64%),people having specific endowment constitution holds the smallest proportion(4.14%);among men,the number of people having moderation constitution holds the largest proportion(23.95%),and the second is the number of people having damp-heat constitution(19.77%)and Yang deficiency constitution(15.02%),people having stagnant blood constitution holds the smallest proportion(1.52%).2.Investigation of depression and anxiety disorder: The occurrence rate of depression,anxiety disorder,depression and anxiety disorder of medical students is respectively 20.63%,0.36% and 3.65%.Such occurrence rate is respectively 19.43%,0.46% and 3.22% for woman and 22.62%,0.19% and 4.37% for man,and there is no difference between man and woman(P>0.05).3.Investigation on relationship between constitution type and depression and anxiety disorder: In depression disorder,people having Qi stagnation constitution hold the largest proportion(53.04%),and the second is number of people having stagnant blood constitution(41.51%)and Qi deficiency constitution(36.63%);while in anxiety disorder,people having Qi deficiency constitution hold the largest proportion(8.91%),and the second is number of people having Qi stagnation constitution(7.83%)and stagnant blood constitution(7.55%).There is a significant difference for Chinese medicine constitution distribution among various psychological disorders(P<0.01).Conclusion:(1)The medical students in Shandong Province have Chinese biased constitution bias,and are dominated by people having Yang deficiency constitution and damp-heat constitution,students having stagnant blood constitution hold the smallest proportion.(2)The morbidity of depression and anxiety disorder for medical students in Shandong Province is higher compared to the literature result,and there is no different between man and woman.(3)Qi stagnation constitution,stagnant blood constitution and Qi deficiency constitution have the tendency for having depression disorder;while Qi deficiency constitution,Qi stagnation constitution and stagnant blood constitution have the tendency for having anxiety disorder.
