Objective The purpose of this study was to carry out the status of depression,anxietyand related factors from nursing students in a vocational college, and providebasic information about nursing students in the school, and carry out the measurementof mental health prevention and intervention in this population for the further.Methods The survey was conducted (before the school hospital internship internselection) in the end of April2013. A total of322nursing vocational college students inTongling city were randomly collected according to different academic and gradesbystratified cluster sampling methods from1428students, two classes were randomlyselected from10high retaining classes in2011and2012grade, respectively, and a classwere randomly selected from two classes of Five Years specialist care in2010grade,aged between17~23(20.49±1.26) years old. The survey included gender, age,school, grade, family, parental occupation, parental education level, child, familyeconomic status, professional passion, academic, professional and self-confidence, anda total of13internships attitude. The Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-RatingAnxiety Scale (SAS), Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List (ASLEC) wereused to assess the status of anxiety and depression EpiData3.1and SPSS16.0softwarewere used toentry data and statistical analysist..According to the status of SDS and SAS(yes or no) if the independent variable is categorical variable and the chi-square test wasused, otherwise, the t test was used; multivariable logistic regression model andspearman rank correlation were performed to analyse the associations between thedepression, anxiety and related factors; P <0.05was considered statistically significant. Results The detection rate of depression and anxiety were29.8%,12.4%, respectively.The results were consistent with similar domestic populations, it suggested thatdepression and anxiety were in common in a vocational nursing students. Spearman’scorrelation analysis showed that the rswas0.777(P<0.001), it suggested that depressionand anxiety have a significant correlation. Univariate analysis showed tha professionalattitude, practice attitude, professional self-confidence and life events were associatedwith depression (P <0.05), while the father’s education and life events were associatedwith anxiety (P<0.05). Binary Logistic regression analysis showed thatlearning stressfactor, attitude and practice were related to depression, and his father educated wasassociated with anxiety (P<0.05); positive correlations were found between vocationalnursing students unexpected life events and depression and anxiety (all P<0.001). Invocational nursing students, depression and anxiety were not associated with age,gender, schooling and other factors (P>0.05).Conclusion Vocational nursing students during the school have higher detection rate indepression, anxiety and other psychological problems.According to related factors taketimely intervention measures so as to improve higher vocational nursing students’mental health is a priority.
