ObjectiveThis paper is devoted to discuss and develop a QOLS(quality of life scale)for compulsive posturing patients of complicated retinal detachment after intraocular tamponade, and to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale, with an attempt to locate the relevant factors affecting the QOL(quality of life) of patients.MethodsThe paper, following a review of related studies at home and abroad, forms a preliminary rating scale on the base of SF-36Questionnaire, which contains an item pool revised by an expert panel.138effective questionnaires in total were collected to evaluate the scale, all of which filled by compulsive posturing patients who were picked up randomly after having complicated retinal detachment intraocular tamponade done during October2010and August2011. The questionnaires were collected on site, bearing results yielded from both the preliminary scale and the original SF-36Questionnaire, for the sake of comparison. The data collected were run by SPSS6.0to test the reliability and the validity of the preliminary scale. And a revised version was formed after the items were analyzed and filtered according to their critical value, relevancy and the result of EFA(Exploratory Factor Analysis). The relevant factors to the QOL of the patients were determined by the results of univariate analysis, correlation analysis, and MLR(Multiple Linear Regression), wherein the data were collected through the application of the revised scale, and some general questionnaires as well.ResultsLA rating scale of QOL, for compulsive posturing patients after intraocular tamponade is formed upon revision.(1) The scale contains6scales, i.e. social competence, ADL (Activities of Daily Living),self-control, emotion, eating quality, and social support.(2). Cronbach’s of the scale is0.929, while split-half reliability reads0.856.3.(3) According to the construct validity analysis, correlation coefficient between factors and the total scale is between0.342and0.842. Confirmatory factor analysis shows results as follow:X2/df=2.023, CFI=0.755, TLI=0.734, RMSEA=0.086. The criterion related validity between this scale and SF-36is0.84. Differential validity test indicates the differed scores of each factor and the whole scale are all statistically significant, i.e. P<0.05.2.The main factors that affects QOL of compulsive posturing patients after intraocular tamponade, as shown by MLR(Multiple Linear Regression), are SAS, educational background, and history of high myopia and hypertension. In addition, anxiety is the single factor that brings the strongest influence.Conclusions1.The revised QOLS (quality of life scale) introduced in this paper, with its high reliability and validity, is not only applicable to clinical assessment for QOL of compulsive posturing patients, but also capable of reflecting relatedness between posture and QOL of the patients.2.The main factors that affects QOL of compulsive posturing patients after intraocular tamponade are SAS, educational background, and history of high myopia and hypertension. In addition, relieving of anxiety is the key to improve QOL of patients.
