ObjectiveExploring the pulmonary rehabilitation promoting effect of Baduanjin’s third part on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) stable patients with lung and spleen deficiency syndrome.MethodSelecting64COPD stable patients with lung and spleen deficiency syndrome from the Respiratory medicine ward or clinic of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s First Affiliated Hospital.Those patients were randomly divided into control and experimental group of32cases.The control group received conventional treatment and care.The experimental group received the third type exercise of Baduanjin besides conventional treatment and care.Participants in experimental group were required to take this training for3months,30minutes per time every morning. Researchers were trained Baduanjin’s third part up to standard could be allowed to teach those patients.During the intervention,we required our patients to fill in exercising journal and arranged for visitors regular follow-up by the way of outpatient service, or telephone.Recording and analyzing quality of life, exercise tolerance, pulmonary function, degree of dyspnea, score of TCM symptoms before and after3months in the two groups.Quality of life, degree of dyspnea and score of TCM symptoms were tested with relevant scale.Exercise tolerance was tested with six-minute-walk distance. Pulmonary function was evaluated by lung function instrument.The final data was analysed by statistical software SPSS16.0.Result1Quality of lifeAfter intervention,there is statistically significant difference between the two groups on CAT score(t=-3.339,P=0.001).The CAT score is (17.39±5.98) in experimental group before experiment,while after the experiment,it down to (10.52±6.30),has statistical difference (t=6.419,P=0.000).The control group CAT score is (18.37±6.59)before the experiment,down to (15.87±6.21)after the experiment,it also has statistical difference (t=2.885,P=0.007).2Exercise toleranceAfter intervention,there is statistically significant difference between this two groups on six-minute-walk distance(t=-3.339;P=0.001).The six-minute-walk distance is (349.00±27.96) in experimental group before experiment,while after the experiment,it increases to (376.04±25.68),has statistical difference (t=-7.857,P=0.000).The control group six-minute-walk distance is (346.23±31.57) before the experiment,increase to (355.54±26.25) after the experiment,it also has statistical difference (t=-4.159,P=0.000).3Pulmonary functionAfter intervention,the related parameters of lung function,such as FEV1,FEV1%,FVC,FE V1/FVC and so on,there is no statistical difference(P>0.05). P values are0.463,0.998,0.111,0.170, respectively.The experimental group and control group related parameters of lung function FEV1, FEV.%, FVC, FEV1/FVC%compared itself before and after experiment, there is no statistical difference (P>0.05).The experimental group P values are0.078,0.076,0.294,0.399. The control group P values are0.28,0.36,0.705,0.111.4Degree of dyspneaAfter intervention.there is statistically significant difference between this two groups on mMRC(P<0.05),the P value is0.008.MMRC itself comparative before and after experimental there is statistically significant difference (P<0.05), the P value is0.006; while the control group compared in the same way has no statistical difference (P>0.05), P value is0.876.5Score of TCM symptomsAfter intervention,there is statistically significant difference between this two groups on Score of TCM symptoms(t=-4.221,P=0.000).The Score of TCM symptoms is (11.61±3.38) in experimental group before experiment,while after the experiment,it down to (6.78±3.21),has statistical difference (t=8.612,P=0.000).The control group Score of TCM symptoms is (11.97±3.34) before the experiment,down to(10.40±3.31) after the experiment,it also has statistical difference (t=-3.316,P=0.001).ConclusionOur study suggests Baduanjin’s third part play a positive role in the pulmonary rehabilitation of COPD stable patients with lung and spleen deficiency syndrome. It can improve its quality of life associated with exercise endurance,improve its respiratory muscle’s endurance,decrease its breathing difficulty, reduce the Score of TCM symptoms and so on.
