Clinical Observation Of Kaixin Jiannao Granule In Treating Alzheimer Disease Of Spleen And Kidney Deficiency, Sputum Turbid Blocking Aperture Syndrome

Objective:To observe the clinical effects and drug-safety of Kaixin Jiannao granule in treating Alzheimer disease, and lay a foundation for further study.Methods:Patients with Alzheimer disease from The First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine were randomly divided into Kaixin Jiannao granule treatment group(15cases) and donepezil control group(15cases) with2treatment course for both groups(one course lasted2months).2. The clinical effects of traditional Chinese medicine symdromes, mini-mental state examination(MMSE), and activities of daily living(ADL) were observed. Test blood, urine, stool routine, liver function, renal function, electrolyte, etc, as safety indicators.Results:1. The total effective rates for traditional Chinese medicine syndromes in treatment group and control group were80%and60%respectively, there was a significant difference between the two groups, which illustrate the clinical effects of treatment group was superior to the control group. The advantages of treatment group were manifested in improving hypophrenia, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, indigestion and loss of appetite, tinnitus.2. The total effective rates for mini-mental state examination in treatment group and control group were73.33%and46.67%respectively, there was a significant difference between the two groups, which illustrate the MMSE effects of treatment group was superior to the control group. Treatment group was superior to control group in improving memory and language competence. However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in directional force, attention and computing power and recalling ability.3. The total effective rates for activities of daily living in treatment group and control group were80%and40%respectively, there was a significant difference between the two groups, which illustrate the ADL effects of treatment group was superior to the control group.4. There was no severe adverse reaction in the period of observation.Conclusions:The clinical effects of Kaixin Jiannao granule in treating the spleen and kidney deficiency, sputum turbid blocking aperture syndrome of Alzheimer disease is very significant. It is superior to donepezil. Kaixin Jiannao granule is safe in the treatment of Alzheimer disease, there is no obvious adverse and toxic effect.
