ObjectiveThrough the Physical Condition and Related Factors ofcommunity elders investigation, learned the status quo of chronicdiseases and lifestyle of urban community elders, analyzed thecorrelation between chronic diseases and lifestyle, and then builtsuitable nursing model for the comprehensive prevention and controlof elderly chronic disease patients,so as to provide basis for improvingcommunity health care for the elderly.MethodsA total of500elders(age≥60)from the community wereinvestigated by using Physical Condition and Related Factors ofelderly.SPSS17.0was used to analyze the obtained data, and itincluded Descriptive Statistical Analysis Test,Chi-Square Test andOrdinal Regression Analysis.Results66.6%(333/500) of the elders suffered from chronic diseases.Thehigh prevalence of chronic diseases could be ordered as:hypertension (43.0%,215/500),heart disease (23.6%,118/500),migraine(16.8%,84/500),hypercholesterolemia(15.8%,79/500),chronic bronchitis(14.4%,72/500) and diabetes(12.6%,63/500),differences between the prevalence of these chronic diseases wereobviously statistically significant (χ2=195.539,P=0.000).The prevalence of migraine and chronic bronchitis had statisticaldifference between male and female elders(P<0.05).The prevalenceof migraine for female elders was higher than male, but the prevalenceof chronic bronchitis was reverse. At present there were still88(17.6%) smokers and94(18.8%)drinkers.27(5.4%) elders had never ate garlic and64(12.8%) livedalone.118(23.6%) didn’t usually watch TV,451(90.2%) didn’t usuallyplay chess and173(34.6%) didn’t often do physical training. The rateof smoking, drinking, heavy salt taste, living alone, not usually playingchess and not often doing physical training was statistically significantamong male and female elders (P<0.05).The rate ofsmoking, drinking, heavy salt taste for male elders were higher thanfemale, but the rate of living alone, not usually playing chess and notoften doing physical training were reverse.Smoking affected the prevalence of hypertension, heart diseaseand chronic bronchitis. Drinking impacted the prevalence of chronicbronchitis and diabetes.Eating garlic influenced the prevalence ofhypercholesterolemia. The prevalence of hypertension and heartdisease were concerned with salt flavor. The prevalence of heartdisease was concerned with living alone. The prevalence of heartdisease and migraine were concerned with usually watching TV.Theprevalence of hypertension was concerned with usually playing chess. The prevalence of migraine was concerned with often doing physicaltraining, differences were all statistically significant(P<0.05).Original Logistic Regression Analysis showed that smoking[OR=2.820,95%CI(1.378,5.774),P=0.005],drinking[OR=2.606,95%CI(1.266,5.363),P=0.009], usually playing chess[OR=0.402,95%CI(0.207,0.782), P=0.007],often doing physical training [OR=0.681,95%CI(0.447,0.898),P=0.032] entered the regressionequation.ConclusionsThe total prevalence of chronic diseases among older adults inthis city was fair to middling at home. There exited unhealthy lifestyle among some of the communityolder adults. The diet of female community older adults was healthier, but themale prefered to integrate with other people and did physical training.Lifestyle impacted the prevalence of chronic diseases.Smoking, drinking were risk factor for chronic diseases, but usuallyplaying chess and often doing physical training were protective ones.Stratified nursing model will be a powerful way for integrated pestcontrol the chronic diseases of elders living in the community, and alsobe one of the excellent ways to achieve healthy aging.
