Objective:To provide a scientific basis for doing a better job of prevention work about hepatitis B and discrimination of hepatitis B by investigating the awareness of the severity of hepatitis B and the related discrimination of college students and exploring the influencing factors. Methods:Respondents were selected randomly by using the multi-stage random cluster sampling method. The severity of hepatitis B during the next decade and currently the seriousness of the problem of discrimination of HBV carriers were analyzed. Wilcoxon rank sum test and Kruskal-Wallis H test were used in univariate analyses whereas classification ordinal logistic regression was used in multivariate analyses. We use EpiData3.02to establish a database and SPSS17.0to make statistical analysis.Results:839college students of5universities were selected randomly by using the multi-stage random cluster sampling method. This study showed that only5.48%investigators believe that the problem of hepatitis b in China during next ten years is not serious,42.31%investigators believe the effectiveness of hepatitis B prevention is little or no.85.22%of respondents are willing to learn related information about hepatitis b.72.35%investigators are willing to join hepatitis B-related activities. Only18.36%investigators have seen hepatitis B-related publicity in the past two weeks. Most investigators believe that getting hepatitis B information and services are easier. They expressed satisfaction with the work of the schools, Government, non-governmental organizations in the prevention of hepatitis B. Only9.42%investigators are familiar with hepatitis B policy.68.84%of154respondents who has seen hepatitis B information through media in the past2weeks think that the problem of the discrimination against carriers of hepatitis B virus currently in China is serious or very serious.One-factor analysis shows that the differences about the severity of hepatitis B during the next decade on different schools, grades, family and friends or acquaintances have HBV, the effect of hepatitis B prevention activities, satisfaction about the government and the school of hepatitis B prevention activities were statistically significant and the differences about currently the seriousness of the problem of discrimination of HBV carriers on different age, the severity of hepatitis B during the next decade, satisfaction about the government and the school of hepatitis B prevention activities were statistically significant.Through multiple factor analysis, we can see that non-medical college students, student of the senior years and investigates whose family, friends and acquaintances weren’t hepatitis B carriers believe that the problems of hepatitis B in China during the next ten years are worse. The more effective prevention activities against hepatitis B are, the more serious the problems of hepatitis B in China during the next ten years will be. As it is thought that the problems of hepatitis B in China during the next ten years are more serious, the problems of HBV discrimination will be less. As the satisfaction of the government’s prevention activities in hepatitis B increase, investigators believe that the discrimination problem more serious. Conclusion:The awareness of the severity of hepatitis B and the related discrimination of college students was not comprehensive and systematic. The factors affecting the severity of hepatitis B during the next decade are schools, grades, family and friends or acquaintances have HBV, the effect of hepatitis B prevention activities. The factors affecting currently the seriousness of the problem of discrimination of HBV carriers are the severity of hepatitis B during the next decade, satisfaction about the government of hepatitis B prevention activities.
