Objective To build the competency model for enterostomal therapists, then based on the competency model to construct the qualifacation training curriculum for enterostomal therapists.Methods This research reference of the building method of competency model, use the methods of interview, BEI method, survey investigation and so on to get the competency indexes, then analyze the important ration and use the factors analysis method to build the competency model for enterostomal therapists. Then reviews on the history and development of the enterostomal therapists, deeply analyzes their professional orientation and occupational characteristics in China to construct curriculum for enterostomal therapists based on the competency model.Results Competency model for enterostomal therapists is built, which there were13competency index including professional quality, occupational quality, innovative study and personal quality. Meanwhile construct the curriculum for enterostomal therapists based on the competency model including curriculum idea, curriculum goals, curriculum structure, curriculum content, curriculum implementation and curriculum evaluation.Conclusions The qualification training curriculum for enterostomal therapists based on the competency model has a good scientific, practical and feasible. Training content and training target objective, comprehensive, realistic coverage of the enterostomal therapists’ need to have the post competency, meets the enterostomal therapists’ responsibilities and post requirements. Total training hours will be reasonable to ensure completion of the training objectives and the curriculum with clinical practice and practical. The constructment of training programs to good for enterostomal therapists training in the management of scientific and normative, to help enterostomal therapists transition to achieve an effect role and to promote the enterostomal therapists growth healthy in the future.6figures,21tables,48references.
