Objective: Apply the comprehensive treatment of traditional Chinese medicinebased on the Bushenhemai prescription which is used to treat elderly Isolated SystolicHypertension (ISH), quantitative evaluation for the ISH intervention effect, and observethe influence of the quality of life in subjects with ISH.Methods: Use multicenter trial study, entry in elderly patients with isolated systolichypertension, pass the initial screening in Hospital Stratified+randomized grouping, docontrolled randomized double blind study. According to its early visit (visit-2weeks,0weeks) and treatment period visit (visit2weeks~12weeks) treatment pocess and fill inthe research. The test group uses the non-drug treatment+Bushenhemai prescription finegranules+the associated antihypertensive therapy, and the control group uses thenon-drug treatment+the associated antihypertensive therapy+the placebo which is thesame specifications of the Bushenhemai prescription fine granules. All subjects (visit0weeks) before the test, test after the visit (12weeks) independently complete the WorldHealth Organization of Life Assessment (WHOQOL-BREF) and the hypertension relatedquality of life scale by DuXunming. After the full test work unblind and performstatistical analysis, record study cases full results to CRF, and create EXCEL databaseadditionally based on the quality of life scale, uses the FAS analysis, PPS, SS andSPSS17.0to analysis data. To see whether it has improved the quality of life.Results:1. By rank sum test the control group and the experimental groupWHOQOL-BREF the score in the two groups before and after treatment in all areasscores were statistically significant (P <0.01); the difference between groups was notstatistically significant (P>0.05).2. the control group and the experimental group Duhypertension related quality of life scale, analyze the score by rank sum test, the control group before and after treatment were compared in addition to functional disorder, depression, compulsion, hostility, working state had statistical significance (P <0.05),have a high statistical significance in the4aspects of physiological symptoms, somaticsymptoms, sleep quality, angry or activity (P<0.01); experimental group comparedbefore and after treatment in depression, interpersonal sensitivity were highly significant(P <0.01); the rank sum test, control group, experimental group after treatment scoredifference were not significant (P>0.05).Conclusion: For the treatment of aged ISH, comprehensive step-down schemebased on Bushenhemai prescription and simple antihypertensive drug treatment caneffectively improve the related quality of life and the overall quality of life in subjectswith hypertension; But compared with pure antihypertensive drug treatment, comprehensive step-down scheme based on Bushenhemai prescription has no obviousadvantage on the improvement of the quality of life.
