Objective: To detect brain neurotransmitter changes on hospitalized adolescentswith Internet addiction by applying encephalofluctuograph technology, it is importantfor revealing the physiological mechanism of Internet addiction and the diagnosis ofInternet addiction and treatment. It can provide some objective indicators for the clinicaldiagnosis of Internet addiction and efficacy determination.Methods: We survey adolescents with Internet addiction who conform to dowTao’s Internet addiction diagnostic criteria in General Hospital of Beijing MilitaryCommand by Symptom Checklist90.Then before the IAD patients receivepsychological and medicine treatment within a week in hospital and then they receivethe check of the encephalofluctuograph by using the ML2001-typeencephalofluctuograph analyzer. The whole experiment completed about one hour. First,the results of SCL-90of IAD were compared with the national youth norm and thenEEG signal set by the window, spectrum analysis, advantages spectrum extractedspatial and temporal fine structure analysis of test data and the computer convert testdata by the FoxPro6.0management database software.Results: The results of SCL-90show: adolescents with IAD were significantlyhigher scores than the national youth norm for somatization,obsessive—compulsive,interpersonal sensitivity,depression, anxiety, hostility, terror, paranoia, psychosis, totalaverage, positive items (P<0.05). The main wave of Internet addiction patients were10Hz and the energy of wave is mainly distributed in10Hz. The brain function ofInternet addiction patients is mainly deep suppression. The content of GABA, GA,5-HT, NE, DA were significantly lower than Norm (P<0.05). The inhibitoryneurotransmitter was significantly higher than Norm (P<0.05).Conclusion: Internet addiction patients have psychosomatic symptom such asobsessive-compulsive, depression, anxiety. The brain function of internet addiction patients is mainly deep suppression. The wave of internet addiction patients haveslow trend. Internet addiction patients have low levels of GABA, GA,5-HT, NE, DAand high levels of inhibitory neurotransmitter.
