Objectives:To research the ZHITONGXIAOYAN ointment’s preventing and treating effects about chemotherapeutic phlebitis postoperative colorectal cancer, so as to find a relatively simple and more effective method which Combination of Chinese traditional and Western Medicine to manage it.Methods:Adopting the prospective, random controlled method for clinical trial,90patients who selected FOLFOX4chemotherapy, after colorectal cancer operation, volunteered their participation in the trial from April2012to December2012. They were randomly divided into3groups, with external application of ZHITONGXIAOYAN ointment combined with Hirudoid(group A), ZHITONGXIAOYAN ointment(group B) and Hirudoid(group C) respectively during the chemotherapy. Every group retained3-5days as a course of treatment. Peripheral access via a short cannula must be selected as chemotherapy channel. Then there was collection of data, which included categories of patients’general information, the incidence of chemotherapeutic phlebitis, the degree of pain, treatment and therapeutic effect. At the same time, assessing the safety of topical drugs through the observation of adverse events and allergies in agent’s area was performed. Finally, all data were analyzed by statistical software PASW18.0. Percentage, mean, standard deviation were used for descriptive analysis, while analysis of variance and X2test and Fisher probabilities were used for inferential analysis. Results:A total of90patients were included, in which30cases in group A,30cases in group B and30cases in group C. No loss cases. No significant difference between the three groups of patients in gender, age, educational level and times of chemotherapy. Three groups of phlebitis occurrence:A group phlebitis in10cases (33.33%), of which Grade one were6, Grade two were4; B group phlebitis in14cases (46.67%), of which Grade one were7, Grade two were6, Grade three were1; C group phlebitis in20cases (66.67%), of which Grade one were10, Grade two were7, Grade three were3. Three groups of phlebitis incidence has statistics difference (P=0.032), where A and C groups had significant difference (P=0.010). Three groups of phlebitis cure rate:80%in group A (8/10),64.29%in group B (9/14),30%in group C (6/20), significant difference between group A and group C (P=0.019). Three groups of Phlebitis treated with total efficiency:A group90%(1/10), B group92.86%(13/14), C group85%(17/20). No significant difference between the groups (P>0.627). Three groups of the occurrence of pain:A group33.33%(10/30), B group50%(15/30), C group90%(27/30). Comparative analysis shows that group A and group C difference in the most significant (P=0.000), followed by group B and group C (P=0.001). Group A and group B showed no significant difference (P=0.190). Three groups of8hours of pain relief rate:90%in group A (9/10),80%in group B (12/15),37.04%in group C (10/27). Comparative analysis shows that group A and group C difference in the most significant (P=0.008), followed by group B and group C (P=0.011). Group A and group B showed no significant difference (P=0.626). Safety of the ZHITONGXIAOYAN ointment has been proofed by the results of allergies. Conclusions:Postoperative colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, showed that application of ZHITONGXIAOYAN ointment is effective in the prevention and reduction of chemotherapeutic phlebitis, reduce the degree of phlebitis, reduce and alleviate the pain of phlebitis, and combined with Hirudoid better. It is easy to use, safe and worthy of popularization and application.
