Xin Huangpian Topical Prevention Of Fluorouracil Induced Phlebitis Clinical Efficacy Observed

[Object] According to a large number of literature search and the theory of traditional Chinese medical, blood stasis and qi stagnation, damp heat toxin results stagnate in the blood,which causes chemotherapy phlebitis.We start the qingrejiedu and ophthalmology treatment by traditional Chinese drugs at the early stage of chemotherapy which can prevent chemotherapy phlebitis.In order to verify that we discussed above, observe the incidence of phlebitis and its economic benefits, patient satisfaction, adverse reactions and other indicators, evaluation of early qingrejiedu ophthalomolgy prevention of chemotherapy induced phlebitis clinical efficacy and drug security.[Method] Adopting the open, prospective controlled method for clinical trial, only the patients who have been finally diagnosed gastrointestinal cancer (colorectal cancer or gastric cancer) according to pathology and accepted chemotherapy by peripheral venous catheter,containing the drag fluorouracil (5-FU),having more than 60 KPS scores and anticipating survival time longer than 3 months are eligible to be enrolled to clinical observation. Assuming a 20% off cases, We take a sample size of 30-40 cases each group according to the analysis of rate.By the regulation of NCCN, In the treatment group, we use the XinhuangPian for external use to prevent chemotherapy phlebitis when it start to chemotherapy. While no measures will be done in the control group.Both groups make 3-5 days as a course of treatment (3-5 days) and were followed up 1 week. Then record the incidence of the two groups of patients. According to all the expenses which the both groups spend, comparing the economic benefits and costs in treatment of prevention of chemotherapy phlebitis. In the same time, investigating and evaluating patients satisfaction of preventive measures. Finally, assessing the safety of XinhuangPian through the observation of adverse events and allergies in agents area.[Result] At the end of clinical trial,72 cases are brought into statistical analyses. The baseline data in two groups have comparability. Incidence rate between the two groups is different statistically,P< 0.05. The incidence rate of treatment group 12.5% is lower than control group's 65.6%. The incidence rate of chemotherapy phlebitis by clinical grading standards, in treatment group are 5%,7.5%,0%,0%, while in control group is 15.6%,21.9%,28.1%,0%.On the other hand, the comparison of economic benefits and costs of the two groups treatment group is 16.75yuan per patient, and 118.2 yuan per patient in the control group. Besides, no patients have allergies on the arm where we put XinhuangPian for external use.Safety of the XinhuangPian has been proofed by the results of allergies.[Conclusion]Applying XinhuangPian at the process of Chemotherapy can decrease the incidence of Chemotherapy phlebitis of fluorouracil chemotherapy,and cut down the clinical classification of chemotherapy phlebitis,improving the quality of patients lives, ensure the smooth progress of chemotherapy,cost less and high rate of patients satisfaction,and don't have obviously adverse reaction.
