The Intervention To Improve The Hope Level Of Breast Cancer Patients By"Solution Focused Approach"

Objective:The purpose of this study is to investigate the hospitalized patients’ hope level who was first diagnosed with breast cancer, and to use the " Solution focused approach, hope-focused " to do the intervention on the patients, in order to improve their hope level, and to help them to promote a right coping style, finally to improve the patient’s quality of life.Methods:This study investigated90patients who were first diagnosed with breast cancer by using the Herth Hope Index, including the patients’hope level, their health coping style. The patients were randomized by draw, divided into the experimental group and the control group. By using the "Solution focused approach, hope-focused "(keep a diary and collect the hope) to do the intervention to the experimental group. At the end of the intervention we did a corresponding investigation in order to comparing with the before and the control group, and then evaluate the intervention effect. Results:The hope level of breast cancer patients in this group was at middle-high scores, the scores of the experimental group were36.96±4.00and the control group were36.05±3.83, the hope level was no different between the experimental group and the control group before the nursing intervention, but the average scores were improved. The hope level scores of the experimental group after intervention were higher than the control group (p<0.05), the experimental group were37.43±3.32and the control group were34.48±3.30, the results show that the nursing intervention may help patients maintain and promote the hope level.Conclusions:The hope level of breast cancer patients was at middle-high scores, the nurse researcher using the " Solution focused approach " intervention may help the patients to maintain and promote the hope level, and help them to perform a right coping style, reduce the negative coping style, on the other hand, the normal health education and psychology nursing can’t help this group of patients promote the hope level, and may disturb the hope level.
