The Diagnosis And Treatment Of Renal Oncocytoma Of20Cases

ObjectiveTo explore the clinical and pathological features of renal oncocytoma and to improve the diagnosis and treatment of renal oncocytoma.MethodsClinical dates of20cases of patients with renal oncocytoma treated from2009to2013in the first affiliated hospital of Zhejiang university were retrospectively analyzed. And review related literature, summarizes the clinical, imaging and pathological features and treatment of renal oncocytoma.ResultsThere were7males and13females, with an average age of56years old (range:39to79years old). In the20cases, there were15patients checked without symptoms or other irrelevant discomfort,3cases found with waist ache,1case with abdominal mass and waist ache,1case with hematuria and waist ache. Tumor occurred in8cases of left kidney,12cases of right kidney, all of the cases were unilateral and single. In20 cases were confirmed substantial masses by ultrasonic and CT examination. In the finally,4patients underwent open radical nephrectomy and9patients underwent open nephron-sparing surgery,3patients underwent laparoscopic radical nephrectomy, and4patients underwent laparoscopic nephron-sparing surgery。All cases were diagnosed as renal oncocytoma by postoperative pathology.ConclusionsRenal oncocytoma is a type of renal benign tumor, but it is difficult to distinguish from renal cancer. Combined with it’s clinical characteristics, ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) imaging examination, can further improve accurate diagnosis. And final diagnosis should be based on pathology and immunohistochemistry. Nephron-sparing surgery should be the optimal choice in its therapeutics and postoperative follow-ups are still required.
