Objective:By analyzing and discussing the clinical manifestation, treatment, imaging and pathological features of RO(renal oncocytoma),to improve our understanding about diagnosis and treatment of RO.Methods:The clinical data of 30 patients with RO were confirmed by pathology during the period from June 2011 to June 2016(5 years),were collected from the First Hospital of Jilin University.Retrospective analysis clinical manifestations, imaging and pathology characteristics as well as treatment and prognosis of RO.Results:A total of 30 patients,10 males and 20 females were enrolled.Their average age was 57.8±10.4 years old, rang from 32 to 76 years old.Twelve tumors were located in the left and 17 were in the right, and one case was bilateral. The average maximum size is 4.81±2.46 cm,range from 2.2 to 13cm;the average minimum size is 3.26±1.27 cm,range from1.2 to 8cm.There were 17 of the patients with no uncomfortable symptoms,7 in the lumbar and abdominal pain,3 for the gross hematuria,3 for hypertension, weight loss and bloating. All patients underwent urinary system color Doppler ultrasound and renal CT examination,1case of renal MRI examination. One case of preoperative consideration of RO,the rest 29 were diagnosed of RCC(renal cell carcinoma).Of the 30 patients,12 patients were able to collect the original imaging data,66.7%(8/12)of the cases showed central stellate scar,41.7%(5/12)cases were observed segmental enhancement reversal. All patients underwent surgical treatment,22 patients underwent radical nephrectomy, and 8patients underwent partial nephrectomy.Only one patient underwent open surgery, the other 29 patients underwent laparoscopic surgery. All patients were diagnosed as RO.The follow-up time was 8 ~ 68 months,no recurrence or metastasis was found. Conclusion:RO is an uncommon benign epithelial tumor of kidney, accounts for about 3.2% of all renal tumors. When the imaging examination found that visible central scars and segmental enhancement inversion features of kidney tumors,RO should be considered.Percutaneous renal biopsy is the only way to diagnose RO before surgery.NSS is considered the most preferred treatment for the majority of patients with RO.
