Objective:To understand the sleep quality, its relation with learning ability, we performed the investigation of sleep and related factors among Xinjiang medical college students. We hope to pointedly promote their physical and mental health development and provide a theoretical basis of college students’ health education. Method:Methods with cluster stratified random sampling,1219college students were investigated from a Xinjinag medical college and assessed with self-designed scale for sleep related factors and PSQI. Statistical analysis using SPSS17.0package deal, and methods are:two independent samples t Test, completely randomized design analysis of variance, Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, stepwise multiple regression. Results:Of total1240college students received this questionnaire,1230questionnaires were recovered, the recovery was99.1%;1219questionnaires were available, response rate was97.5%. The total average PSQI score of1219medical college students were (7.59±2.85). The factor scores accounted for share in the average score of PSQI in descending order as follows:sleep time (21.9%), sleep latency (18.1%), daytime dysfunction (17.7%), sleep efficiency (15.2%), subjective sleep quality (13.7%), sleep disorders (12.3%), hypnotic drugs (1.3%).48.4%of students, their sleep quality were impaired,39%were sleep quality middle students and12.6%were sleep good quality students. In the single factor analysis on influential factors of sleep quality, different ethnic groups, eating before going to bed, bedtime exercise, drinking tea or coffee before going to bed, sleep disturbance, whether online time before going to bed, single parent, different hometown, employment confidence, the differences between the PSQI total score and grades were statistically significant both.In stepwise multiple regression analysis, the factors into the regression equation were as follows:sleep disturbance, eating before going to bed, drinking tea or coffee before going to bed, ethnic groups, whether online time before going to bed, single parent, different hometown. Sleep disturbance was main influential factors. Between sleep quality and different grades, professions, professional satisfaction, academic record, there was significant difference. Sleep disorders, PSQI total score and academic record had significant relevance. Conclusion:Nearly half of medical college students had sleep problems in Xinjiang, and sleep quality could influence the academic record. Sleep quality, which should be taken into consideration seriously by school and relevant departments. It was related to ethnic groups, physical habits, single parent, hometown, professional satisfaction, employment confidence, whether to participate in graduate school entrance exams, but was not related to gender, whether only child, family income, academic satisfaction.School should take actions to improve sleeping environment of students, develop good sleep health awareness, set up healthy life mode and provide help to the students with different sleep problems, in order to make medical students grow up healthily.
