Objectives:To evaluate the relationship between plasma cystain C (CysC) concentration and coronary artery diseases(CAD).Methods:This study was conducted with439CAD patients and74nomal subjects. The blood specimens were collected after on the second morning with a fasting status. Coronary angiography was carried out on all selected objects, ruled out other heart diseases such as an dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, rheumatoid cardiomyopathy, hyperthyroidism cardiomyopathy, abnormal of kidney and liver function and infection, malignant tumor, diabetes, problems of the blood system, respiratory system disease and immune system disease.A total of513objects were selected, which were divided into four groups,169cases of acute myocardial infarction group,174cases of unstable angina pectoris group,96cases of stable angina pectoris group, and74subjects with normal control group. All subjects were recorded general situation, the gender, ages, height, weight, body mass index (BMIJ, renal function, blood fat, FBG(fasting blood-glucose) and CAG results. All subjects were determined by CystatinC detection kit (immunoturbidimetry) method to investigate plasma CysC concentration and all data was processed by SPSS17.0package for statistical analysis.Results:(1) Plasma CysC levels of the acute myocardial infarction (AMI) group were1.24±0.55; plasma CysC levels of unstable angina pectoris were1.21±0.36. plasma CysC levels of stable angina pectoris were1.20±0.26.Threre were not statistical significance among three groups plasma CysC levels difference (P>0.05). Plasma CysC levels of the control group were1.02±0.32. There were statistical significance between the three groups plasma CysC levels difference and the control group (P<0.01).(2) Coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CAD)(439cases)groups and control group were categoried into4count groups according to coronary artery lesions count: plasma CysC levels of the control group(74cases)were1.02±0.32; plasma CysC levels of single vessel lesion group (143cases) were1.14±0.29; plasma CysC level of double vessel lesions group (133cases) were1.24±0.43and plasma CysC level of three lesions group (163cases) were1.24±0.46. Single lesion group, double vessel lesions group.and three lesions group of plasma CysC levels were higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). To group of single-vessel lesion, double-vessel lesions group, and three-vessel lesions, three lesions and double-vessel disease group plasma CysC levels were higher than the single-vessel disease group,a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).To three vessel group and double-vessel disease group plasma CysC levels, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).(3) There were statistical significance between levels of plasma CysC and coronary artery lesions count, rs=0.189(P<0.01), through correlation analysis. Plasma CysC levels and coronary artery lesions count were positively related.(4) Multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis indicated that plasma CysC was an independent risk factor of CAD.Conclusions:The plasma CysC of patients with CHD were significantly higher than the normal control group, its plasma levels were closely correlated with CHD severity. Plasma CysC levels and coronary lesions and the degree of stenosis was positively correlated. Plasma CysC may be an risk factor for CAD and the degree of danger is lower than smoking, higher than ages and fasting blood-glucose (FBG).
