Objective According to Chinese guideline of chronic constipation, probiotics can promote defecation by correcting abnormal intestinal flora, which still needs exact evidence. Through a comparative analysis between the combination of probiotics and separate Lactulose application for the treatment of chronic constipation, further to provide evidence for the treatment of chronic constipation.Methods This study collected80outpatients with chronic constipation treated in the second affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University school of medicine from March2010to March2013as the research object, who were divided into two groups in the method of randomized, parallel, group A (n=42) took Mei Chang An+lactulose orally, group B (n=38) took lactulose orally, for4weeks. Long-term follow-up, through comparing PAC-QOL scale assessment, defecate character, defecate frequency and adverse reactions, to analyse the treatment effect of two methods.Results After4W, total effective rates of two groups were97.6%,71.1%, group A was significantly higher than group B (P<0.01);2onsets of diarrhea in Group A, while Group B without significant adverse reactions; According to the results of PAC-QOL scale assessment, the patient’s quality of life and overall body discomfort aspects have been improved significantly (P<0.05) in both groups after treatment, and A has a significantly higher improvement of body discomfort(P<0.05). Conclusion Combination with Mei Chang An and lactulose is superior to separate lactulose in chronic constipation, also safe and effective, worthy of clinical popularization and application.
