Object:Investigate the echinococcosis inpatients’ general information and expense data of XinjiangProduction and Construction Corps from2007to2011; analyze the present situation of hospitalmedical expenses; discuss the major influencing factors; and provide the reference frame forhealth policy makers. Methods:The study gathered the home page data of echinococcosis patients’ medical record and theinformation of hospital medical expenses from one tertiary hospital and six second-class hospitalsin Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (2007-2011). Use Excel2007to set up andproofread a database; use SPSS17.0to count and describe the data; use Kruskal-Wallis to conductthe one-way analysis for the influencing factors; use multiple stepwise regressions to conduct themultiple-factor analysis for the influencing factors; and evaluate various factors about the effectand control countermeasure to echinococcosis patients’ hospitalization expenses.Results:1.There are529cases of hospitalized patients from2007to2011: the age is between7and88,among them30-45are in the majority; the Han nationality is in the main, it accounts for81%; theprofession is given priority to agro-pastoralist; the rural patients are more than town patients, respectively at59.36%and40.64%; the proportion of self-paid patients are higher than Medicarepatients, respectively at82.4%and17.5%; The length of stay is10and19, and the average is19;the average length of stay of tertiary hospital is18, and the second-class hospital is20; the cataractsurgical rate of cured patients is87.8%(389/443)..2. The average per capita hospitalization expense is rose from12191.89in2007to19154.48in2011; among them the Han nationality is¥16233.90, ranked in the first, and followed by Hui is¥15059.29; the cadre is18031.87and is in the first; the town patients and rural patients are similar, respectively at¥15867.80and¥15844.25; the self-paid patients are higher than Medicare patients, respectively at¥15305.59and¥14033.68; the surgical patients are higher than non-surgicalpatients, respectively at¥19239.53and¥5713.57; the tertiary hospital is higher than second-classhospital, respectively at¥15565.65and¥10872.70.3. In this study, the analysis of echinococcosis hospitalization expenses choose medicine fee, treatment cost, examination fee, operation fee and other fees in hospitalization expenses as theanalysis index. Among them medicine fee is the highest about¥5520.2, and followed byexamination fee is¥2420.6; except treatment cost, the other fees in tertiary hospital is higher thansecond-class hospital.4. The single factor and multiple factors analysis results show that the affecting factors ofhospitalization expenses for echinococcosis is various. Hospitalization days, the situation ofdischarging from hospital, and the year, the age, method of payment, nation, and place ofresidence are the main influential factors.Conclusions:1. Although governments subsidize operation fees for echinococcosis patients, as thehospitalization expenses rising in recent years, the echinococcosis patients of Xinjiang Productionand Construction Corps still need to bear a lot of fees.2. From the payment’s form of hospitalization expenses, the proportion of echinococcosis patients of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps that participate in medical insurancesubsidy system is still very low.3. From the hospital level, the hospital admissions and hospitalization expenses ofechinococcosis patients in tertiary hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps arehigher than second-class hospital, but the hospital admissions in tertiary hospital shows a trend ofdecreasing year by year.4. Medicine fee and examination fee are accounting for a large proportion in theechinococcosis patients’ hospitalization expenses of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and there exist the phenomenon of overquick growth.
