Objective: To compare the clinical results of intertrochanteric fractures of theelderly using PFNA(Proximal Femoral Nail Anti-rotation)and LISS-DF (Less InvasiveStabilization System-Distal Femur)Explore the pros and cons of the two proceduresobtained the respective indications. Methods: From February2009to December2010.A retrospective study withmore than17months follow-up of92patients with proximal femoral fracturesunderwent PFNA or reverse LISS were carried out,including50with PFNA and42patients with reverse LISS.The union of fracture and weight loading time, theincidence of complications, the operation time, the average length of stay, the functionalevaluation of hip joint(the rates of excellent and good results)were compared and thecurative effects were analyzed for different methods. Results: The incision length, operation time, blood loss and drainage, weightloading time of the LISS-DF group higher than the PFNA group, The difference wasstatistically significant (P <0.05).The Length of stay, union of fracture time, andincidence of complications had no statistical significance(P>0.05) between the twogroups. Conclusion:PFNA and LISS-DF in the treatment of intertrochanteric fracturescan obtain a satisfactory effect. For all the Evans fractures of two kinds of internalfixation methods can be applied. PFNA ismuch more suitable for patients who do not have greater tolerance of surgicalprocedure, But for EvansIII, IV, V-shaped fractures with severe osteoporosis, femoralgreatertrochanter fragmentation is severe, the lateral wall of incomplete or thereisinterhemispheric spread and subtrochanteric fracture patients, LISS-DF can be used asan important supplement in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures with intramedullary fixation outside.
