Objective Review analysis to study the distribution feature of the etiology and theclinical characteristic of neonatal surgical vomiting. Guide the diagnosis and treatment of it.Methods Retrospectively reviewed the medical records of960vomiting newbornswho required surgery were hospitalized in pediatric surgery department of the GeneralHospital of Ningxia Medical University from January1st2002to January1st2012withcollecting items including: ethnic group, gender, birth status, clinical features and etiologicaldiagnosis.Results In the960cases, a male to female ratio of3.03:1; there were317huinewborns(33.02%),643han newborns(66.98%), hui to han ratio of1:2.03;860term-infants(89.58%),62preterm-infants(6.46%),28postterm-infants(2.92%);74low birthinfants(birth weight<2500g)(7.71%),837normal birth weight infants(2500≤birthweight≤4000g)(87.19%),49high birth infants(birth weight>4000g)(5.10%). There were835(86.98%) infants vomiting within7days after birth while125(13.02%)cases occurred after7days. Bilious vomit787(81.98%), Non-bile vomit173(18.02%). The cause of neonatalsurgical vomiting mainly with Congenital megacolon, Congenital anal atresia, Congenitalhypertrophic pyloric stenosis etc.Conclusion Multiple neonatal surgical vomiting occur within7days, mainly due togastrointestinal tract anomalies. According to the day-old of vomiting pathogenesis, the natureof the vomit, the associated symptoms and combined with appropriate assistant examinationshelp to confirm the diagnosis and timely treatment.
