Objective:To investigate the prevalence of behavior problems amongecological immigrant children in Ningxia, study the effect of ecological migrationon children’s mental health, and explore the related factors. To provide theoreticalbasis for interventions of the ecological immigrant children behavior problemsMethods: Using multistage randomized sampling method,2653teenagersamong ecological immigrants were selected as a study group, also,3174from localstudents and2334from original places as control groups. The Achenbach’s ChildBehavior Checklist(CBCL) and a self-made correlates questionnaire were finishedby their parents. Results: Ecological immigrants detected in765children and children withbehavioral problems, the detection rate is28.8%, the detection rate of thehometown group is24.2%, and the destination group is19.3%, compared with twocontrol group, the detection rate of ecological immigrant children`behaviorproblem is higher, and shows statistically significant difference. Multiple logisticregression analysis of all the influence factors of ecological immigrant children`sbehavior problem shows that the detected rates of behavior problem ofimmigration children in9,10, and12years old is higher than the other two controlgroups, and showed the significant difference. The detection rate of behavior problems of1313Han ecological immigrant children was21.9%compared with17.8%of2004local students and19.5%of1004from hometown. There is no statistically different between first and lastgroup(χ~2=2.004,P=0.157>0.0125),but, the fist group higher than the second one(χ~2=8.597,P=0.003<0.0125). Multiple logistic regression analysis of all theinfluence factors of Han ecological immigrant children`behavior problem suggestthat the control groups did not step into the equation. For ecological immigrants group of Hui which content1322people, thedetection rate is35.6%, the detection rate of hometown group which content1314people is27.5%,the detection rate of local group which content1149people is21.8%. The data of ecological immigrant group is higher than that of hometowngroup(χ~2=19.93,P=0.000<0.0125), and higher than local group(χ~2=55.89,P=0.000<0.0125).The higher detection rate mainly showed in social withdrawal, bad contacts, depression, obsessive-compulsive, discipline and attack forecological immigration boys aged6-11, bad contacts for ecological immigrationboys of Hui aged12-16and immature, discipline, attacks and cruel for ecologicalimmigration girls of Hui aged12-16. The detection rate is higher than other twogroups and shows significant difference. We found that the risk factors for behavior problems of ecological immigrantboys of Hui aged6-11stand in sequence is cesarean section[2.782(1.377-5.617)],the working hours of parents out longer than half a year [1.864(1.097-3.168)];that the positive factors and their corresponding odds ratios for behavior problemswere parents’ education level higher than junior high school[0.585(0.354-0.965)],parents’ will return migration [0.707(0.521-0.961)],better life after migration[0.723(0.543-0.963)], parents of immigrant life satisfaction [0.744(0.554-0.998)].The contacts risk factors for Hui boys aged12-16, according totheir corresponding odds ratios for behavior problems were cesarean section[5.089 (2.342-11.060)], physical defects [3.930(1.485-10.403)], parents with chronicillness or disability [2.280(1.110-4.686)], the working hours of parents out longerthan half a year [1.807(1.137-2.873)]; that the protective factor was parentsapproved immigration policy [0.627(0.434-0.906)]. the risk factors for Hui ofextraversion behavioral problems for girls aged12-16corresponding odds ratiosfor behavior problems were cesarean section[6.242(3.022-12.863)], that thepositive factors and their corresponding odds ratios for behavior problems wereParents approved immigration policy[0.665(0.491-0.900)],Conclusion: The detected rate of immigration children`s behavior problems is28.8%, which is higher than the national large sample survey results. Theeconomic immigration do more influence on the children in9,10, and12years old.The ecological migrant shows more obvious influence in behavior problems of Huiare obviously higher than that in Han,especially bad contacts, depression,obsessive-compulsive, discipline, attack for boys aged6-11, bad contacts for boysaged12-16and extraversion behavioral problems for girls aged12-16. This isclosely related to parents of immigrant life satisfaction and to some degree to stateof life, which is proposed to give great importance when we take effectiveintervention.
