Objective: To study the different features of eye signs in five different subtypesof blood stasis syndrome and the possible connection with inflammation andactivation of platelet.Methods:60Japan’s big ears white rabbits were randomized into six groups formodeling: qi deficiency and blood stasis group, qi stagnation and blood stasis group,cold coagulation and blood stasis group, heat toxin and blood stasis group, bloodstasis after trauma group and normal control group. When model finished, bulbarconjunctival microcirculation and eye signs of blood stasis syndrome were recordedand scored. Serum CD62P was determined by flow cytometry and serum TNF-a wasdetermined by ELISA.Results:(1)There was no significant difference on eye signs scores, microcirc-ulation scores and serum levels of CD62P and TNF-a in each group before modeling(P>0.05):(2) After modeling, the scores of eye signs in each subtype of blood stasiswere significantly higher than those in normal control group (P<0.05).(3)After2-weeks treatment, eye signs scores of each subtype were significantly lower thanthemselves’ before treated (P <0.05).(4) After modeling, the levels of serum CD62Pand TNF-a were getting higher significantly in each subtype group compared withcontrol group (P <0.01).(5) After2-weeks treatment, serum levels of CD62P andTNF-a in each subtype were significantly lower than themselves’ before treated (P<0.01).(6) Serum CD62P level was higher in qi stagnation and blood stasis groupthan other subtype groups, serum TNF-a in heat toxin and blood stasis group washigher than other subtype groups(P <0.05).Conclusions: Eye signs of blood stasis syndrome can act as effective tool todiagnose blood stasis syndrome but not for subtypes of blood stasis syndrome. Thereare similar and unique features in different subtypes of blood stasis syndrome. It ishelpful to differential subtypes of blood stasis syndrome with combination of specificchanges in eye signs, bulbar conjunctival microcirculation, activation of platelet and inflammatory response...
