Cattle, which was attracted Jingpo ethnic minority’s ancestors, has been playing a very important role in Jingpo’s history and lives. The Jingpos have different cattle raising knowledge from other people. They had created a unique means of livelihood and national culture in order to accommodate the natural environment.I am try to explore the cultural role and significance of Jingpo based on Manghai Town,Dehong Dai-Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture from a unique perspective. It extends to the modern village change and means of livelihood from Jingo’s cattle raising. In the interdisciplinary perspective of environmental anthropology, the research can understand the Jingpo society for better. In addition, it’s trying to construct the ecological culture of the frontier nationality.The thesis consists of five parts, the first part is an introduction, it explains research background, theories review, the meaning of the research, the research methods and the general situation of Manghai town. The second part introduces cattle culture of Jingpo and traditional national culture. This part discusses the history of cattle raising.and cattle culture has effect on traditional primitive religion, buries funeral and sickness, marriage custom and customary law. The third part of the paper discusses cattle culture of the modern Jingpo ethnic minority, this part focus on the change of modern communication and religious ceremonies. The forth part provided a conclusion which based on the above analyses, to reflect the value of cattle culture’s change. In the perspective of environmental anthropology, this part describes the change of cattle culture, which contains ecological environment and mode of production. The last is peroration. It sums up all the views, then look forward to the futuritv.
