How to extinguish a fire more efficiently is always an important subject for fire serious threat to people’s life and property. Till now the water is still the main medium used in fire. And the plused water jet is becoming more and more popular for its high atomization and more efficient. In this design of the fire-fighting gun, we added storage process composed by the spring and the accumulator before spray process. When the inner water pressure reaches the set value, the ball valve can open in a very short time by a mechanical switch, when the inner water pressure is less than the set minimum pressure value, the switch can shut off automatically and continued to store energy. This design can insure the starting injection pressure above1200kPa and ending injection pressure is not less than450kPa. After analysis the working process of this energy storage and pluse jet fire-fighting gun, we can get many hydraulic parameters of the gun. It need about0.01second to open the switch and0.04second to close. The whole working cycle time is about1.15second and it spray about2liters water one cycle. Also, through the hydraulic calculation, the spray speed is about45m/s, flow meter is about13L/s, the spray distance is about60m. We can optimize the structure through the virtual prototype build on the software and at the same time it is cost-saving compared with manufacture the prototype. The simulation with the FLUENT software can also show the spray effect. It shows the energy storage and pluse jet fire-fighting gun is a kind of design to increase the spray distance and improve the degree of atomizing, greatly improve the efficiency of extinguish the fire.
