The Post Occupancy Evaluation On Public Space Of Museum

For over30years of reform and opening-up, our country’s economy has obtained an unprecedented development, at the same time, the requirements of the people’s spiritual civilization also has been upgraded a higher level. As one of the important component of cultural construction, the population size and construction level of the museums are springing up in recent years and have made considerable progress. Therefore, it’s necessary to research the diversification of the people’s requirements for the using of the museums with the progress of era and the transform of people’s lifestyle. The changing of people’s lifestyle and behavior pattern are not only putting forward new requirements for the collection decoration design of museum itself, but also putting up higher requests for the using of the museum’s public space. At present the public space of museum has been increasingly becoming the public cultural place for the audience to understand the museum and participate in the social activities, and the design quality affects the people’s evaluation of the whole museum in a great extent.This paper attempts to make an evaluation for the using of the new museum’s public space through the method of the Post Occupancy Evaluation, and the evaluations are focused on several aspects of people pay attention to such as interior space characteristics, functional organization, the public service facilities. Well, the Capital museum, Beijing Automobile museum and the China Film museum are selected as evaluation samples. Finally, based on the audience’s evaluation and the research results, the paper summarize the public space’s design proposals of the museum in the new era.
