With the continuously development of power grid enterprise reform deepen, themodern power management is becoming more and more important. Because of thepresence of defects on the electricity sector, the traditional manual meter readingmethods causes certain pecuniary loss.Nowadays, with the rapid development ofelectronic communications and automation technology, the metering gradually tends tothe intelligent, remote, and network.With the remote meter reading technology research and development at home andabroad in recent years, Compared with the existing meter reading methods, this thesisproposes, researches and designs one kind of remote meter reading systems based on theGPRS wireless communication network and power line carrier communicationtechnology. The hardware and software design contains the peripheral hardware ofelectric energy meter, collector, concentrator, GPRS module, and carrier communicationmodule.According to user’s permissions the system can read the electricity meter parametersmomentarily, while preventing electric larceny and various fault conditions. Selectingthe GPRS network communication technology, which based on GPRS data transmissionplatform design of data acquisition and control system, can improve the reliability andstability of data transmission. It makes the remote meter reading become intelligent,remote, network.
