With the development of the energy business management, the conventional meter way by people will be replaced by the auto meter reading system.Without laying line, meter reading system on low-voltage power line carrier holds the advantage over others to be the good choice to construct the auto meter reading system.But because of the characteristics of the low-voltage power line carrier communication channel, there are some problems and deficiencies for the meter reading system on low-voltage power line carrier, such as reading labilization, low performance on real-time, high cost of channel maintenance and so on.For the sake of the performance of meter reading system on low-voltage power line carrier and the reduction of the cost, optimization engineering design should be taken into consideration.Besides this, the implementation of the routing algorithm in the meter reading system on low-voltage power line carrier is one of the key technologies to promote the performance of the system, which is the hot topic in the research job home and abroad.In this paper, firstly, we expatiate on the concepts of the theory about the power line communication, analyze the characteristics of the channel of the low-voltage power line carrier, together with the performance of this technology applied to the auto meter reading system nowadays.Then it is investigated the function and the architecture of the meter reading system on low-voltage power line carrier.The routing algorithms currently used in the system is also investigated.Noticing that there are some meters installed in the same box usually, we can design a kind of equipment named as the terminal equipment for collecting the datum of the meters and sending to the concentrator.we explain the function of this equipment and the basic theory of the implementation of its software and hardware.Finally,a new routing algorithm,which can be applied in the meter reading system on low-voltage power line carrier, is presented.We emulate this algorithm and prove that it is convergent and has better capability than the former algorithm.
