With China’s rapid development, the demand of electricity increases very fast, but the power supply is tight in many areas. So a lot of large companies have self-built power plants, but it also brings a further increase of risk for the local grid company’s production operations.Risk management is a kind of the law and risk control technology to study the risk of occurrence, it is an emerging management discipline. The risk assessment as an important management tool could control the potential risks to a minimum value by risk identification, risk analysis and developing appropriate treatment programs and risk assessment methods. The four basic ways to control risk stratification:risk aversion, loss control, risk transfer and risk retention.The Second Power Plant of Jilin Petrochemical Company as the research object, conducted from three aspects. First of all, establishment of a comprehensive risk assessment system. Second, risk assessment evaluation using fuzzy theory. Third, based on risk stratification control theory, analysis coping strategies of the power plant risk avoidance, risk transfer, risk mitigation, risk retention for power plant. The purpose is to explore suitable risk management model for captive power plant operation.
