The Design Study On Public Space Of Community Building In Yilan,Taiwan

The culture of human habitation has entered a new era of urbanism development.Creative and cultural factors have a profound impact on the development of thecommunity public space design. The significant progress of communi ty buildingcombined with varies creative industries has resulted in numerous distinctive, cordialand pleasant community public spaces. Over the past15years, under the influence ofthe second wave of globalization, Yilan embarked on a path of creative t hinking tocreate a community public space by localization. After years of painstaking work bythe Yilan local government, community-building organizations and local architects,Yilan have build a public space which is highly regarded as one of the most ic oniccommunity urban paradigm in Taiwan and Asia.The author starts from the concept of "community building", incorporating theexisting domestic and international researches as the theoretical basis, combining alarge number of instances of the creative community in Yilan, summarizing the threemajor factors that affecting the formation of Yilan Community Public space systems,and finally determines the influence of the tendency of critical ruralism, which is ontop of natural and social factors, on Yilan creative community public space.Meanwhile, by elaborating the system configuration, dynamic development andregional expression of the city as a whole, the author points out thecompound-dimensional characteristics of the Yilan urban community, and furthe rdiscusses how those characteristics have been expressed in the geographical culture ofthe city.Construction strategy of the public space is the most important ways of thinkingin the process of community design. This article will analyze construction s trategyfrom the basic principles of spatial construction, type of space, space opportunitiesand social organizational system; and present the design of Yilan creative communitypublic space in a more concrete and vivid way. The main reason for the succes s ofYilan community building is the generalization of the unity of the space design andthe principles and methods of strategic thinking. In-depth discussion of thecommunity-building work of the internal operation mechanism of Yilan is anotherimportant study focus of this article.In the last part of the article, the author will concentrate on the practical operations of the public space design in the formation of creative community, andempirically analyze the relatively more successful cases in Yilan c ommunity-buildingfrom ecological, cultural, and industrial view points. The cases selected are WuweiPort ecological communities, Ewang cultural communities, and Nanfang-aoCommunity. According to the different characteristics of the communities, this art iclewill summarize the principles, practices and innovation; propose evaluation andrevelation of the author’s personal researches in Yilan; self-examine the phenomenonof spatial form and communities’ emotion; and dialectically consider developmentpossibilities of future creative community development.
