The smooth advance of China’s socialist market economy greatly satisfies its citizens’material demand, and consequently, stimulates its citizens’ cultural need. Hence, thesustainable development is presented as its fundamental strategy of21st century, which exertsa profound impact on the values of the environmental arts design. The environmental artsdesigners today are gradually aware of the disadvantages of immediate interests and theadvantages of long-term interests. They confront, and reflect on a realityï¼the prospects of theenvironmental arts design. In this paper, the social, economic and cultural conditions areanalyzed, and the responsibilities of the environmental arts designers are explored. Theawareness of the responsibilities contributes to the progress of the environmental arts design,and to the self-improvement of the environmental arts designers. It is expected that this paperwill bear some new trains of thinking and inspiration.Synchronic analysis, diachronic analysis and critical evaluation are employed in thispaper. The acknowledgement of the environmental arts, the understanding of theenvironmental background today and the implication of the environmental arts are the basisfor the study. This paper deals with Liang Sicheng’s and Yang Tingbao’s design works interms of the designers of China, thus seeking the understanding of their social and historicalresponsibilities, and their responsibilities for the future in design. This paper also deals withWu Liangyong’s and Deng Kunyan’s design works, thus seeking an answer to the sense ofresponsibilities for the future. In addition, the contribution of individual, education andsociety to the growth of the environmental arts designers is particularly examined. Throughthe analysis of the history, today and tomorrow of Beijing quadrangle, great importance isattached to the recognition of the sense of responsibility of the environmental arts designers,and the function shift of Beijing quadrangle to stress the protection of cultural heritage and thedevelopment of Beijing. A better understanding of the trend of social progress is the key to theadvance of the environmental arts design. This is not only the need of self-improvement, butalso the affirmation of social progress. A better commanding of culture and history is the basis for the self-improvement of the designers, so that their designs can stand the test of history. Areflection on the long-term interests of the nation is a representation of the historical sense ofresponsibility and the sense of responsibility for the future of the designers. |
