The core of Building Information Model(BIM) is the data base formed from computer3D model. It contains all parameter information of construction project. These data information changes dynamically. It can accelerate decision progress and increase decision quality so that it can increase the quality of the project and decrease the project cost. Nowadays, BIM technology has been gradually developed from theoretical research to practical application and reflected a certain value in some applications of project. But BIM technology still has many technical problems not to solve in the realm of structural design, for instance, the problems of collaborative design between structural design and related major such as architecture based on BIM technology, and the problems of two-way link between structural information model and structural analysis software.This paper mainly focuses on the problems in the structural collaborative design. Researched and applied the BIM technology from the view of structural major, and providing some theoretical basis to design through summarizing the research current situation and related standard. By using Revit software to achieve BIM application progress combining with the specific high-rise shear wall residential project. At the same time, it adopts a new kind software R-Star CAD to solve the link problem between building information model and structural analysis software, and carries on the secondary development for information extraction to complement the structural analysis model. Checking the overlap problem and linking other professional model through the cooperative design platform based on BIM technology. Then that provides modified design through analysis. It can offer some advices to the application of BIM and manifests the BIM technology application value in collaborative design of building structures.
