In recent years, construction of China railway has entered a stage of rapid development, in order to ensure the safety and efficiency of railway transportation, a large number of operating maintenance personnel with professional knowledge and practical experience are needed. At present most of the railway signal professional teaching and training are still in the traditional teaching way by books, but the teaching process is so abstract. Due to the particularity of railway industry, railway signal equipment operating skills training are not allowed to be taught at the scene of real railway, it is difficult to meet the needs of object teaching. If using the real signal equipment to meet the needs of object teaching, it requires site and funding as a support, but it’s too difficult to achieve in reality. Based on such background, using computer technology to build a virtual training system for railway signal professional teaching and training has a very practical value.In this thesis, using computer3D display technology and virtual reality technology design a virtual training system for railway signal professional teaching and training. Firstly use3ds Max modeling software to set up three-dimensional models of virtual railway station scene and signal equipment, in order to ensure the operation speed of system, simple models, optimization method and optimization tool are used a lot. After format converted, virtual models are imported to Virtools development platform. In the Virtools, set up attributes for some models, and use the array tool to realize the virtual equipment data correlation, and finally design script for virtual signal models, making all of the virtual signal equipments having the same appearance and control logic relationship as the real devices. At the last, design the application interface of the virtual training system, and set function for mouse and keyboard to make the system achieve human-computer interaction.This system is an immersion, interactive3D virtual training platform. By using this system, students can see3D display of the whole scene of the railway station and all the signal equipment. They can also realize roam and perspective switch in virtual scene through the mouse and keyboard control. It’s able for them to realize cognitive learning, internal components learning and controlling principle display of the signal equipment, and virtual operation of virtual operating console, by clicking on the different buttons of the console to trigger different operations command, and at the same time, the students can observe the display change of consoles, outdoor signal equipment status and the indoor relay movement process. If this system applies to railway signal of training and learning, it will receive a good training effect.
