With the development of modern marine war technology, it becomes more and more important for the safe of ship. For military ship, it is particularly important to ensure the survivability. To improve the survivability of the naval vessel, it is more important to have a fast damage control system with perfect function, besides taking various kinds of measures in designing and building of the naval vessel. Namely, the effective damage control must rely on the advanced and reliable system. The damage control system of the naval vessel is composed of drainage system and firefighting system. So ensuring the survivability is to discover the damage timely and accurately and take measures fast and correctly. That is to say, damage control, which is one of the main means to the survivability and fighting capacity, is the last line of defense of the naval vessel. Damage controlling correctly and actively has a great function and meaning for the existence of naval vessel.At present, automatic level and intelligent degree of the damage control of the whole warship are not very high on most modernized advocate war naval vessels. Damage control system is only to shake and accuse artificially and display the state of simple damage control, and it can't realize full-automation and intelligent control. Furthermore, the actual combat training is too expensive and confined by place. Some training courses are very dangerous. So the new breakthrough of the simulation training system is urgently required according to these new characteristics. Through simulation technology, actual training is replaced with the cheaper cost and lifelike result to the greatest extent. Nowadays, damage control training system of naval vessel and its foundation of facilities are took as very important by many countries in the world.This paper comes from 701 institute center, which is to the need of the modern naval vessel. This paper is devoted to the studying of fire damage control training system of naval vessel based on virtual reality technology. The main purpose is to establish the model of fire damage control training system of naval vessel based on virtual reality technology. The modeling method and characteristics of three-dimensional modeling software CADDS5 and 3ds Max are related. Then virtual reality software Virtools development environment and five modules are introduced systematically with features and applications of it.Fire damage control training system of naval vessel based on virtual reality technology consists of fire detector (including manual alarming button), warning controller and automatic firefighting equipment (including putting out a fire directly by firefighter). Every part of this system is analysed in the paper. Fire damage control training system of naval vessel is developed by Virtools software. In this paper, Building Blocks of Virtools software is made full use. This system is easy to manage, convenient to maintain, and reflect the characteristics of real-time and interaction. This system not only has high theoretic value but also has actual application signification.
