Energy crisis, global warming, promoting the development of low carbon economy, energy saving and emission reduction has become the common responsibility of the international community. Shipping is the key industry of oil consumption, is also a greenhouse gas (GHG) and one of the important sources of atmospheric pollution. Therefore, to strengthen the energy-saving emission reduction is one of the inevitable choice to alleviate the energy and environment pressure. The ship energy efficiency design index "(EEDI)" of IMO to develop and "the ship energy efficiency management plan (SEEMP)" is mandatory and great impetus to the development of the implementation of the energy-saving emission reduction, is a necessary requirement for achieving sustainable development.Shipping market downturn, the world economic downturn, fuel costs accounted for more than60%of operating costs; under the environment, the main engine of ship running of low speed low power, is one of the important measures for energy saving and emission reduction.The paper is in "main engine ultra low speed and burning high viscosity fuel risk control research" of COSCO (NO.2013-1-R-C001) and the National Natural Science Foundation (NO.51179102) funded through it.By analyzing the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) and ship energy efficiency operating index (EEOI) content, oil consumption statistics, multi voyage Average EEOI calculation, optimization of ship energy efficiency operating index (EEOI); the propeller characteristics, main engine power and propeller speed working condition characteristics, analysis of ship speed, reduced power energy-saving emission reduction, optimization the operation of the ship economic speed reducer; the energy saving principle, analysis of advantages and disadvantages of main engine low power navigation, the measures to solve the problem. Focus on the main engine power reduction of the ship when sailing, turbine (TC) CUT-OUT technology optimization, Alpha ACC electronic timing cylinder lubricating device technology optimization, the ship economic benefit analysis, that, after optimization of the main engine in the50%load operation, safe and reliable operation, and obtain the fuel saving effect is better. In the shipping market downturn, the world economic downturn, environmental protection and energy-saving emission reduction standards, conventions and fuel cost pressures of the environment, the main engine power reduction of sailing, cost decreasing and benefit increasing, energy-saving emission reduction, it is worth to promote the use of shipping enterprise; but also for future ship speed reducing power navigation provides Instance basis and design reference.
