Since ancient times, China’s traditional courtyard has the irreplaceable position.Under the influence of different climate, geographical landscape and way of life，richhistorical and cultural connotation and mature space design concept were bred. Traditionalcourtyard with its own unique landscape design technique and rich landscape structure,show us with the living environment with ingenuity, make the traditional culture elementsfully integrated into the courtyard landscape design, and provide a guide of thedevelopment direction of current courtyard landscape design.Along with the rapid development of modern society, the high density of modernresidential form has replaced the traditional courtyard landscape space. For China’s largepopulation, high density of modern residences are beneficial to improve people’s livingspace, and partially solves the shortage of land resources, but they also cause someproblems,for example, the traditional courtyard landscape characteristics are gradually lost,and the relationship between human beings and man and nature are restricted. In order toprevent this phenomenon continue to deteriorate, people begin to protect national andregional culture, began to expect to return to nature, and are eager to have their own"yard". Therefore, how to protect and regenerate the landscape with traditional courtyardcharacteristic under the background of modern society have become our key questionsremaining to be solved.In this paper, the related theories of courtyard landscape are researched and exploredin detail, the relationship between the culture with RanZhuang characteristics andcourtyard landscape is summarized. And on this basis, through the comparison and drawlessons from the domestic and foreign outstanding case of the traditional courtyard spacedesign, further discusses about the way of traditional courtyard landscape conservation andregeneration are given.From the architecture, sketch and plants in the traditional courtyardslandscape, focus on the situation of lack of regionality and design methods tending to the same in the current design of Chinese traditional courtyard, this paper give comprehensiveanalysis and discusses on RanZhuang prominent feature of traditional courtyard, anddiscusses how to embody the local characteristics in the courtyard landscape design. Thispaper focuses on the traditional courtyard landscape design must be based on localcharacteristics, on the basis of the combination of modern materials and new designgimmick, regeneration and inherit traditional local culture landscape, emphasize traditionalcourtyard landscape design is not to blindly follow the traditional courtyard space modeland style, but rather to explore how to really reflect characteristic landscape connotation ofrational thought and method.
