With the serious problems of global climate change, energy shortages, economic development andsafe operation of grid, all of these issues should be faced and solved by the development of electrical powerindustry. Hence, smart grid development has become a realistic choice. Intelligent substation is animportant part of smart grid. It is the key factor of smart grid power generation, transmission, substation,distribution, electricity and scheduling. Furthermore, optimized design of intelligent substation is thecrucial part construction of smart grid; substation can directly affect the safe and stable operation of powergrid security and stability.In this paper, Yan’an750kV Intelligent substation is based on actual project, elaborated Intelligentsubstation design ideas, design steps, Intelligent substation on key technologies, such as a device intelligenttechnology, electronic transformers and digital sampling technology, a device status monitoring technology,substation automation systems technology, Other secondary system intelligence techniques were studiedand summarized.combined with Northwest750kV substations and330kV substations in Shaanxi Province years ofexperience in design and operation. In addition, refer to design and operation experience of domestic andforeign750kV substations at the same time. Focus on the characteristics of this project, carrying outscientific and reasonable design and selection of distribution equipment, to provide reference for latterintelligent750kV substations.
