With the rapid development of civil aviation transportation industry, there are more and moreaircrafts and vehicles at the airport surface, which makes the surface security issue prominent. Asmost airports’ infrastructure construction is not sufficient in our country and using the traditionalvisual surveillance method, the capacity of the airport has not been able to satisfy the growth of theflights and operational conflicts between moving targets often occur at the airport surface. Thesituation is even more serious in low visibility weather conditions such as fog and night vision. Inorder to improve the operational ability and safety level of the airport, the development andapplication of the techniques of airport surface surveillance are worth extensive attention. The purposeof this thesis is to equip surveillance terminal for moving targets by providing visual and programmedaids to ensure safety and efficient movements of aircrafts and vehicles at the airport surface. The thesis makes analysis and comparison about current surface surveillance techniques anddesigns the moving targets surveillance system based on differential global positioning system-DGPS,automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast-ADS-B, video surveillance and GIS according to thefunctional requirements of advanced surface movement guidance and control system. By using thedependent and independent surveillance method, moving targets can achieve synthetic awareness ofthe surrounding traffic situation and complete conflict detection on the basis. The content of thesis is:making analysis and explanation of the techniques involving in the system and establishing theframework of the moving targets surveillance system; building the theory verification platform formoving targets surveillance terminal based on laboratory equipments and computer simulation, designing the software and hardware architecture, work process and required function modules of theplatform; finishing some of the function modules of the platform with MSComm control, MapXcontrol, DirectShow and Multithread techniques; studying conflict detection algorithms for movingtargets with data provided by satellite positioning and ADS-B.
