Because of the influence of the connected carriages,most of the time,locomotive drivers can not directly observe the situation in front of the connected carriages in the process of shunting and propelling operation.Only the lookout staffs judge the status information how long is the distance ahead and whether there are operating personnels.And these informations are conveyed to locomotive drivers by means of hand gestures or voice in order to confirm the route of locomotives and rolling stock.The operation mode of confirming the route of locomotives and rolling stock by lookout staffs is full of great intensity and strong artificial factors.Operators themselves are at high risk,and it is prone to accidents.In order to improve the safety and efficiency of shunting operation,advanced technical means should be adopted to make the whole process visualized and intelligent in addition to strengthening the safety responsibility consciousness of shunting operators and improving operational skills.This paper studies the application of the image processing technology based on binocular distance measure and pedestrian detection in the video surveillance of shunting and propelling operation in view of the above problems.The influencing factors of shunting operation safety and the shortcomings of existing technology are understood.Binocular distance measure and pedestrian detection system based on image processing technology is constructed.The calibration algorithm and stereo matching algorithm of binocular ranging camera,pedestrian feature extraction algorithm and classification algorithm for pedestrian detection are studied.The experimental platform based on OpenCV2.4.9 and Visual Studio 2010 is built.It realizes the function of measuring the distance between carriages connected and unconnected,and recognizing the operating personnel in the process of shunting and propelling operation.The research process and results of this paper are as follows:1.Research on binocular distance measure technology for shunting and propelling operation: The camera is calibrated by using the calibration method of Zhang Zhengyou.Distortion coefficients and extrinsic and intrinsic parameters such as the focal length,rotation matrix and shift vector of the camera are obtained.SGBM stereo matching algorithm is used to realize the matching of the target points in the left and right camera images through the processes of pixel matching calculation,cost computation,dynamic programming,elimination of false matching and parallax calculation.The parallax image and three-dimensional point cloud image were obtained,and then the depth distance information of the target points was obtained.The system carried out the binocular distance measure experiments in the laboratory environment and simulated site environment respectively,and the measure results are of high accuracy,which can meet the requirements of the shunting and propelling operation.2.Research on pedestrian detection technology for shunting and propelling operation:HOG feature of PCA dimensionality reduction,LBP feature and RGBHSV color feature are extracted from the collected images.HOG-PCA-LBP-RGBHSV feature vector is generated as the final feature of pedestrian detection after cascading features of HOG-PCA feature,LBP feature and RGBHSV color feature.Pedestrian detection are realized based on SVM classifier.The system respectively carried out experiments in INRIA pedestrian database and simulated site environment,and the detection results show that the system has a high recognition rate for pedestrians.3.The practical application of binocular distance measure technology and pedestrian detection technology in the shunting and propelling operation is studied: Multiple experiments are conducted in the Site environment,and the results show that the system can quickly identify the operator on the line and complete the distance measurement.It can meet the actual work requirements.In this paper,the application of binocular distance measure technology and pedestrian detection technology in the shunting operation is preliminarily realized,which can assist the shunting driver and shunting operator in the shunting operation to a certain extent,reduce the work intensity of artificial lookout,and improve the safety and work efficiency of the shunting operation.
