| As an important part of the historical and cultural city of Fuzhou, Shangxia-hang historical street has completely historic character, rich culturalconnotations and higher cultural values. It shows the geographical and culturalcharacteristics, as well as carry the people ’s contemporary life. As the mostdirect reflection of outer space, the street space is a concentrated expression ofthe features and characteristics of the historic district. Currently, most researcheson historical street concern the building or buildings in clusters, while lessresearches take the street or other external space as the subject, moreover, theresearches lack systematicness.In response to the problems above, the paper takes the street space as the subjectand summarizes the features of Shang xia-hang historical street space with thehelp of literature collections and current situation investigations. The scope ofthis study is the traditional planning area of Shang xia-hang historical street, andthe understanding of composite planning area around is just the supplement tothe traditional planning area research. The core contents are the third, fourth andfifth chapter. Following the discipline that from historical overview to the statusquo of research and then analysis on characteristics, this paper firstly comes tounderstand the history of Shang xia-hang historical street through the location,street patterns and buildings, then investigates the current situation from threeelements, region, street, as well as architectur. Lastly, through the analysis oncompositions and characteristics of the street space, this paper sums up thecharacteristics of Shang xia-hang historical street space and raises somerecommendations on protection and development.This paper’s main conclusions are as follows:(1) For the layout, Shang xia-hang historical street’s layout is holistic, tortuousand has multi-reach ability.(2)For the interface of streets and alleys, Shang xia-hang historical street’sarchitectural style of the ever-changing and the unity of architectural scale formthe changing unified interface of streets and alleys.(3) For the node space, there are six node spaces existing in Shang xia-hanghistorical street. According to the relationship between Shang xia-hang historicalstreet and alleys position, the node spaces are summarized as convergence typeand extended type.(4) For the scale and proportion of street space, we use a cross-sectional view ofthe street space for quantitative analysis and sum up appropriate scale andproportion of street space.(5) For the street’s profile characteristics, we find that because of the different elements of both sides of the circumference, there are four profiles exsiting. Wesum up the characteristics of Shang xia-hang historical street space through itsawareness. Although the study just takes the street space as the subject, it makessense to the whole Shang xia-hang historical street and even the similar areasnationwide. |
