The research content of this article comes from the following three aspects.First,with the development of Chinese enconomy,the growth of the supplyincreasement of urban road net isn’t able to satisfy the growth of the trafficdemand,rusulting in a serious limitation of the further development of theenconomy.Adopting a more effective traffic management and control tactic at theexisting road net condition is the practicable method to mitgate the problem.As thebottleneck of the road net,the intersection is the key role of the operation efficiency ofthe road net.So,how to regualate and control it more efficiency becomes the importantpoint of the whole traffic management and control system.So far, the method to regulate intersections are almost using signalcontroller.However,there exist many disadvantages in traditional controller.Though IPCtechnique has a powerful function,but it waste lots of hardware and powerresource.Singlechip technique isn’ able to accomplish the mission of large-scale trafficsignal system control because has a relativly simple function and limitedcommunication rate. And the aboard traffic signal systems don’t suit the mixed trafficcondition of our country.On the other hand,the embeded design based on FPGA isbecoming more and more perfect with the development of the embededtechnique.FPGA and IP core system are becoming the main trend of the development ofthe embeded system because low power,short period,rich funcitions,supporting variouscommunication interface and so on.This article takes FPGA as the development platform, using the SOPC technique ofNIOS soft core and ethernet communication with high speed transmission to develop aset of remote controlled signal system in order to meet the adaptive traffic signalmanagement requirements. Quartus II, SOPC Builder and Nios II10.1Software BuildTools for Eclipse are the development tools.
