With the continuous development of social economy, the characteristics of urbanvehicles present the styles and appearance of cities. While high-speed train in cities isa fast, safe, convenient and energy-saving green vehicle with the advantages of largecapacity, excellent performances, little pollution to environment and energy-efficientusage, and it has become the ideal choice of people for travelling. In recent years, the requirement by people for the environment in vehicles isincreasingly high. Although a complete set of standardized and systemized designsystems has been established in our country, all of which are uniformly regulatedsubstantially based on physical environmental criterion such as noise, light, heat andmicro-environment, thereby humanization design elements in environment are ignored. This thesis, from the view of environmental psychology, lays emphasis on theinteractions between people’s physiological response, psychological mode, behaviors, space demand and the environment in the vehicles and then makes guidance and studyon the spatial design of urban high-speed train.First, this thesis makes comparisons between the current situations in the spatialdesign of urban high-speed train at home and abroad to guide the defects anddeficiencies in the previous design. Second, as the basic elements of passengers’demands, the various design factors of environmental psychology are discussed in thefour aspects of physiology, psychology, behaviours and space, analyzing theinteractive relation between the design factors and spatial environment. Third, basedon the analysis on the design of urban high-speed train, tendency and improvements tothe design of urban high-speed train are proposed:(1) improving space arrangement,(2) optimizing seats and surrounding facilities,(3) intensifying environmentalmarkings,(4) enrich lighting models. Then, combining the relationship betweendesign factors and spatial environment as well as the study methods in environmentalpsychology, this thesis reconstructs the design of urban high-speed train to generalizethe design principles based on environmental psychology. At last, this thesis practices the design of urban high-speed train in a particular individual case. Passengers areenabled to enjoy a pleasant and impressive experience in their travelling by verifyingand analyzing the above principles and then applying them to a real case, therebyimproving the upgrading of train products and promoting the spatial designdevelopment and manufacturing of urban high-speed train to step into qualityinternationalization.
