Obviously house accounts the largest proportion of buildings on the earth, and this isthe type of building that related to our daily lives mostly. The development of societywould probably cause the change of living pattern therefore lead to the convert of thehouse form. The Reform and Opening up brought the civilization throughout our country.Old buildings are dismantled while new ones are built up quickly everywhere. This formsthe new fashion face of the city but at the same time lost our sprite of meticulous whenconstructing. The limited time and cost restrict our thoughts, architects becomes part ofmanufacturing. The produce of architecture garbage therefore comes out. This shouldmake us introspection our way of design, especially when build houses. What architectsmust consider besides function is the way of family life and the need of each familymember.The most important reason that the thesis focus on the works of house designed byKazuyo Sejima to discuss is she takes a lot consideration to society and its people. Thethesis first summarizes the development process of Japanese house, and the concepts thatappeared after the World War II which have influenced widely. Then the writer discussesthe design journey of Kazuyo Sejima, in which she developed her own designcharacteristics and concepts. On that stage the writer starts the analysis of her five mainhouses with diagram. The writer reconstructs the design process to summarize strategythrough three aspects: the relation with site; the nature of space; and the design process. Atlast comes to the conclusion.Japanese culture is so much related to ours. What they have achieved in architectureworth our attention. The writer hopes the thesis could benefit the readers, and maybe helpthe following researchers of houses or Kazuyo Sejima.
