In recent years, the world’s transportation industry has been rapid development,as one ofthe service industry plays a more and more important role. The vehicle monitoring system, abranch of the intelligent transportation system plays more and more important position.However, as the mainstream forms of communication is the communication mode of GSM asthe vehicle terminal and the control center, research shows that, as the main business of shortmessage service has some disadvantages in the process of transmission, transmission delay isnot less than6seconds,as the positioning system transmission speed of the systemrequirements are very high, this is not to reach the standard. Moreover, compared with thetraditional wireless communication technology,application of GPRS technology can greatlyimprove the transmission of real-time, high throughput etc,The application of GPRStechnology as the means of communication, lower cost in the process of communication, hasa long-term significance of benign development of the vehicle positioning system. Therefore,the use of GPRS technology to the vehicle positioning system, plays an important role in thedevelopment of the vehicle positioning.This design from the vehicle positioning system to realize the function of starting, usingthe technology of GPRS technology is perfect, according to the current situation and trend ofthe development of science and technology, As the data acquisition using global positioningsystem GPS module, using the embedded microprocessor as system software and hardwaredevelopment platform, design a vehicle positioning system based on the GPRS scheme, so asto realize the positioning of vehicles.
