The domestic and overseas intelligent vehicles system have developed rapidly in recent years. The demand of information service become more and more strict. But the wireless transmission part of vehicle terminal mostly use the method of GSM short message at present. The experiment indicated that the practical transmission latency is more than 6 seconds by the GSM short message to finish data communication service. That doesn't content the demand of vehicle terminal which feed back very timely. The GPRS way can do the transmission quickly and more reliably compareing with the way of GSM short message. Especially GPRS is reasonable for the cost of data transmission. There is the extremely vital significance regarding the long-term utilization of vehicles terminal. Therefore, with the GPRS technology insteads of the GSM short message has become one of the main development directions of the vehicle terminal.The paper proposed a set of vehicles terminal design proposal based on the GPRS and has designed the vehicles terminal device according to this proposal based on the ARM embedded system. This terminal is according to the development characteristic and the demand of market application of the vehicle, which unifies the GPRS technology that become more and more mature day by day in application. At the same time this terminal follow the reality and tendency of the development of modern information technology using the ARM embedded processor andμCLinux embedded operating system of computer technologies. The paper uses ARM processor S3C2410 as the hardware platform in the design of vehicle terminal. TheμCLinux operating system was transplanted to the platform. The system has been realized the stable movement finally depending on the resources superiority of the operating system. The procedure of application layer and adaptive layer were completed one by one.As the reason of the price and the technical, the ordinary electronic automobile terminal occupy the mainstream status. The automobile electron mostly uses the monolithic integrated circuit to carry out the control and the intellectualization before. As the enhancement of the automobile electron function, the monolithic integrated circuit can not be able to meet the actual need.The embedded system is introduced into the application inevitably. This paper have a beneficial try in this aspect. Long-distance control vehicles, terminal has been designed based on the GPRS used Samsung ARM9 chip S3C2410.This terminal has used MC39i-GPRS module and the ARM9.If it joints to the correlation component,it is possible to realize the the functions of monitoring the vibration of automobile body, the intelligent judgment, sending out short messages to report to the police and so on.
