Water is the source of life, is indispensable to human survival and social development, isthe important resources. In recent years, with the rapid development of economic, industrialand agricultural production, the continuous expansion of city, people’s living standardunceasing enhancement, the water consumption is also increasing, in order to solve theproblem of uneven distribution of water resources, using long distance water delivery hasbecome a development trend. With the development of the national inter-basin water transferproject, more than long-distance pipeline water pipeline engineering is increasing, and withthe water hammer protection problems are more prominent. Cavities collapsing Waterhammer, in particular, great harm, once happen will cause significant physical damage toproperty.In this article, long branch pipe pressure flow water conveyance system of the waterhammer protection problems are studied. According to the characteristics of the pressure flowwater conveyance pipe, the flow of gas and liquid two phase flow and conversion process areanalyzed. This paper expounds the harmless of air blocked in e the pressure water pipe, basedon this theory, preparation before pump-stopping water hammer calculation and a calculationmethod of pipe system are pointed out. According to the basic theory of water hammercalculation in long distance water conveyance project, water hammer wave velocity and basicdifferential equations, the paper briefly explains the basic principle of the characteristic linemethod, and finite difference equation is derived. Using this method, we solved many waterhammer problems of complicated pipe system. This method had high precision, and at thesame time greatly improve the computational efficiency.Combined with two specific projects about HuoQiu long distance water conveyanceproject and YanChuan Gao jiawan water level4pump station calculated the pump-stoppingwater hammer. By comparing the available results of different protective measures, draw thebest protective measure of Water Hammer in multiple branch,pressure flow andlong-distance water supply system.Now, in the practical engineering application there are a lot of kinds of water hammer protective measures for long distance water conveyance pipeline, and the protective effect isalso different, and comprehensive use of a variety of water hammer protection measures areusually better than single use of one kind of measures to eliminate water hammer effect. Inactual engineering, for the long distance water conveyance project, we should analyze thetype of water hammer on the basis of the condition of the pipeline, and then based on thecharacteristics of pipeline and combined with the advantages and disadvantages of all kindsof water hammer protective measures, chose the most economical and reliable water hammerprotective measures, to ensure the safe and stable operation of long distance waterconveyance pipeline.
