Research On The Optimization Of Expressway Service Facilities Of Hubei Province

The thesis examines the conflict between the rapid development of expressway construction and the backwardness of expressway service facilities, analyses the status quo of the expressway service facilities in Hubei province, and studies the feasibility of upgrading the planning of expressway service facilities in Hubei province.The thesis combines macro analysis with microanalysis, theory with practice, qualitative approach with quantitative approach. It identifies a range of problems that have existed in the expressway service network in Hubei province. These problems include shortage of service facilities, long distances between services, diseconomy of scale, insufficient use of facility functions and lack of a unified management system of service facilities. Analysing relevant technological standards and drawing on the experiences both home and abroad, this thesis offers an overview of the categorisation of service facilities, distribution patterns, scale of construction and distance set-up. In combination with the demand forecasting of the year2015, it comes up with a plan for an improved comprehensive layout of the expressway service facilities in Hubei province.This thesis sheds new light on research on regional expressway service facilities. More importantly, it offers a practical plan for the designing of expressway service facilities in Hubei province in2015. By putting a premium on environmental protection, this plan will bring both economic and social benefits.
