Study Of Meseum Designing Inspired By Geniusloci

Since the Chinese reform and opening, China has been paying great attention to the cultural development, and has made enormous effort in the development of museum construction. It has raised a museum construction wave especially in recent years. In Hangzhou city, there have9new museums built in just short three years from2009to2011, and many others are in planning and designing. With the buildings of museum in succession, different designs of museum are also renewing and extending.At this time, as a designer it is necessary to review the achievements that have been made so far. As we know, design is a special product, which exists for achieving better living quality for human. This also exists between the museum and its design. The design is a kind of added value which helps the museum achieve its functional requirement and promote its social value. With the requirement of museum development, the design of museum needs to be more and more detailed and professional.According to the satiation investigation from many museums, it is found that the main problems for museum now are the insufficient visit flow amount and its unbalanced structure. As the representative of results of the culture and civilization of a country, museum loads the unparalleled wealth of civilization and how to transform the spiritual wealth into the social wealth which can create the civilization can only rely on people, also the visitors in museum. Therefore, the problem of museum visit flow needs urgently be solved. In fact, the problem of visit flow is just only a semblance, and the essential problem is the absence of geniusloci which can be explained as the absent sense of identity to museum design. In order to make museum operate efficiently, we start investigation from geniusloci theory to find back the sense of identity to the museum for visitors through special design to museum. According to the investigation from geniusloci theory, we find the largest difference between geniusloci and space is that there exists some interactions between geniusloci and people. So we need to change the museum space into museum with geniusloci through the interaction between museum and people to maintain the certain amount of visit flow. Therefore, in order to solve the visit flow problem through museum design, we need to come back to the origin of this problem,"geniusloci", and start it from modeling "geniusloci"As to the study of the museum design, this paper will focus on the research about the different understanding from designer and visitors on geniusloci of museum. Designers make the design for users, while users are arranged to experience the design, and this can make the museum space much more functional and comfortable. The main reason that causes the absence of the sense of identity to museum is that the communication gap between designer and visitor. Therefore, it is especially important to combine the suggestions from two sides. This paper will study and analyze the visit needs from visitors and the professional design from designers, respectively, and finally come up with the detailed solutions. On one hand, based on the combination of theory and logical relationship, we carry out a detailed investigation to liangzhu museum as the case analysis. We visited the liangzhu museum and interviewed the relevant staff to get the direct experience. We also did the relevant questionnaire survey to enrich the results of the experience report and make the results as convincing as possible. On the other hand, we make the conclusion to the museum designing from the designers view, and finally find out the way to design best museum. It can be considered that the research of this thesis is the improvement and extension to the theory system of geniusloci. It is also the exploration and practice that can better realize social function of the common education of the modern museum by the cultural transmission and also the echo of the spirit of the times.
