Research On The Evaluation System For The Elderly Of Urban Communities Residence

With the trend of population aging, providing for the aged which is brought aboutby big changes taking place in the population’s age composition has become one ofthe most challenging social problems China faces currently. In order to solve the issuemore effectively during the society transformation, China’s actual conditions such asthe aged living with their own family should be paid more attention and the existingsocial resources are supposed to be made the most of. The paper just takes the existinghouses widely distributed in common urban communities as the object. Different fromthe customized building for the elderly, the urban community is the most importantcarrier of the aged caring at home, as well as the basic unit in city life. Thus whether itcan meet the demands of the senior citizens or not will directly affect their quality oflife.Therefore, whether being used as a system to assess the demands for reformingthe residence for the aged and the results after the reform, or as a reference checklistto inspect the reform and a work requirement for keeping for file, setting up aevaluation system seems increasingly urgent and necessary, by which the functions ofthe housing for the elderly get specific and quantified. Then the reform will becontrollable and easy to operate, and the target of directing how to make urbanresidence suitable for the senior citizens will be achieved eventually.Based on the relevant research findings and through comparing and analyzing theexisting theories and standard model at home and abroad, the research chooses AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) finally to establish corresponding evaluation indexsystem and do the weighted calculation according to the hierarchy indicators. Thesystem mainly evaluates if the designs in the urban residence are fit for the elderly, aswell as if the related functions and facilities are completed and meet the demands ofthe old during their daily life. It includes indicators for designing an obstacle-freesystem, stable designs for equipment system, appropriate aging designs of dwellingspace. After the theoretical model of the system fixed, two actual projects which ismore representative are selected as numerical examples to apply the system to assess,by which evaluate the functions and the effects of the system.
